Our Story

OCULUS Surgical, Inc. was established in 2012 in Florida as the North and South American surgical arm of OCULUS Optikgeräte GmbH, headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany. Created to better serve the evolving needs of surgeons across the Americas, the organization was founded alongside the creation of a dedicated Surgical Division at OCULUS headquarters, marking a strategic step forward in the company’s commitment to advancing surgery worldwide.

From the beginning, innovation has been central to that mission. In 2013, OCULUS introduced the world’s first single-use system for wide-field imaging, the BIOM ready. This breakthrough redefined efficiency and accessibility in vitreoretinal surgery and set a new benchmark for surgical visualization, one of many important company milestones which exemplifies the spirit that continues to guide the organization today.
